Established in 1994 by the Cheaib brothers and then led by Joseph Cheaib, this restaurant was created as a gathering place for families, friends, and food enthusiasts. La Sirène de la Mer demonstrated its commitment to innovation by incorporating a fish market into the dining experience. This new method enabled customers to choose their preferred fish and seafood, which were then expertly prepared and cooked on the premises. This not only refined the freshness and quality of the offerings, but also created an interactive and personalized dining experience, setting a new industry standard.

Our journey

After Joe Cheaib’s sudden passing in 2020, his wife, Terry Cheaib Soda along with their children, Emilia and Peter, continue his legacy. They remain committed to offering a unique dining experience that seamlessly blends the rich traditions of Lebanese cuisine with the multicultural spirit of Montreal.

The journey of La Sirène de la Mer began with our family’s deep love for the culinary traditions of Lebanon. In a culture where food is the heart of every celebration, we wanted to bring the warmth and flavors of our homeland to Montreal. We combined generations of culinary expertise with a deep passion for hospitality.
